Sara Antell, PharmD

Pharmacist

Sara Antell is the Pharmacist at Boston Center for Memory.  Sara is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy in support of Phase II and Phase III clinical trials. Included in her role are the preparation and handling of infusions, and the documentation and accountability of Investigational Products based on Good Clinical Practices and study protocol guidelines.

Having worked in various pharmacy settings since 2002, Sara earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from Northeastern University in 2011.  Her specialty is in compounding pharmacy, but her array of experience also includes time spent in independent and chain retail pharmacies, and in-patient hospital settings.  Most recently Sara spent eight years (five as Pharmacy Manager) at a retail compounding pharmacy, formulating medications to meet the requirements of clients with unique needs, and maintaining compliance in a fast-evolving regulatory environment. In this role, Sara assisted physicians at Boston Children’s Hospital develop custom formulations for pediatric patients with complicated medical conditions, such as eosinophilic esophagitis, which were published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.

Sara developed an interest in research and investigational pharmacy at Northeastern, when she completed a co-op rotation at an Investigational Pharmacy Services Department.  With so many recent advancements in the field, Sara is looking forward to her role at BCM and her involvement with patients with Mild Cognitive Impairment and Alzheimer’s Disease.
